Christian Ladies Connect

Connecting Women of God All Over The World

This is the working title of a piece I'm writing at the moment - and I wanted to make a statement and share it with you, to get you thinking about what you've been thinking about lately. What keeps coming up for you over and over? Would love to hear about it!

What keeps bubbling around in my spirit is christian counseling, support groups, teen chat groups. I am a nurturer and love to help people. God has brought me through some situations and I want to share these experiences to help someone else. There are areas in my life where I know if it had not been for God bringing me out and giving me the strenght that I needed; I would not have made it. I have a story to share...a book to write. I know that this is part of the purpose and plan that he has for me.

What keeps coming up for me is what I have not finished. I know God told me to handle some things months ago..namely my business plans and every time I sit down to do them, I get mind tied..cannot think about what I should do to get it done.

Then I get tired and disgusted.

I do not want it to look like I am not being obedient..but that is what is looks like. God is going to move me from this 9-5, but I have to finish what He told me to finish.

I have even gone back to making jewelry in my gifts business, but I can't get a a good photo to place them online or figure out how to put it all in my business plan..I"m so disgusted! LOL

Distraction and confusion are such enemies to progress, hey? Maybe this will help: Don't focus on the BIG overwhelming project. Rather focus on completing one small task that is part of the whole (Inch by inch, it's a cinch. Yard by yard, your job is hard!) Just tell yourself that you ONLY have to complete this one small task. Focus on getting that done. That is your goal. And when that's done, and ONLY when that's done, are you allowed to move on to the next small task. Also, I set an alarm for myself. Set a time limit of say, 30 minutes, where you must focus on that small task and nothing else. If the phone rings, let it ring. When your alarm goes off, you can take a break, or finish for the day, but typically you'll be so in the groove that you may want to ignore it and keep on working.

Please let me know if you found these tips useful. :)

Good advice, Melissa. I so agree. When you look at a whole task, it seems overwhelming. But if you break it down into doable size chunks, it becomes much easier to get it done.

When you are overwhelmed, you tend to stand still. Make a plan and set up certain things to accomplish each day. Don't "over plan" as that can be discouraging if you are never reaching your goal.

Hi Naomi,

Sorry I'm just seeing this now. Have you made any progress with your framing idea? What are you finding scary about it?

What keeps coming up for me is health advocacy. I consider myself a health activist/evangelist and have created two Meetup groups and one of which is the Women's Health Imperative. My volunteer work brings me peace and completes me.

I am frustrated because I don't know how to turn this into a full-time business or not for profit.
Some have told me not to go the route of a not for profit because what I am doing is not needed. I disagree and feel that I am making a difference one day at a time.

Health Advocacy has been birthed into me and I have been on this journey for 5 years.

Hi Lee,

There are ways to research and see if there is a need/market for what you do and my guess is that there probably is. You will need to be creative in the way you present what you do, or be willing to fill the need out there in the way that your research indicates, rather than the way you might want to at first.

What are your thoughts?
