Hello, Ladies. I am new to this group. I am in need of prayer or rather my son. He will be 3 in May and we have been going through several specialists to try to overcome speech and motor skill delays. Yesterday we saw yet another specialist who in...
Sorry I meant to say my husband did not like hearing my son has autism. So I had to find another way to tell others without saying he has Autism. Hopefully the information was helpful.
Alicia I just want to encourage you. Nothing is to hard for God. My son will be three in July, he was diagnosed with autism in December. I used to be a stay at home mom and I decided to go back to school until I could find the job that I really wanted. To make a long story short, my children had to go to daycare and when I took my daughter I was explaining the language delay to the teacher and giving her suggestions on how to communicate with her. When I arrived to the center later that day the teacher told me my daughter had the characteristics of autism. I had no clue as to what it was so I started doing some research. My daughter started taking speech and I later found help for my son. Once I became more familiar with Autism it taught me how to understand my children, appreciate alot of things I took for granted and patience. My best advice is to know God is able and my constant prayer is for God to place the right people in their path. It hurts, I was almost positive about my sons diagnosis but hearing it was still something for a mom. Later I started using it for just that, a diagnosis. A road map to help me better understand my child. I speak greatness over all of them and not defeat because I know God has a great plan for their lives. My husband did like saying he had autism so I had to figure out a way to explain it to people so I say he was diagnosed with it, which means it can change. But I felt I had to embrace it (for lack of a better word) to help me and my son and he has come a long way. I was excited today because I found someone that comes out to the daycare if your child has special needs and they can help the teachers and staff with understanding your child and dealing with some of the cons to being diagnosed with autism. After the lady came out and talked to his teachers, his provider called me and asked if I had the contact information to receive the training. This is where someone from Easter Seals come to your child school and educate teachers about Autism. To me that was a blessing, not only do you want someone to just keep your child you also want them to be willing to learn and help your child exceed. There is still NO LIMITS!
