Missed Opportunities Lead To A Faith Boost!

Something happened to me this week in my business which was a true disappointment to me.
Due to some unforeseen events I ended up losing out on a lucrative opportunity which I had been working on diligently for over a month-- and if we want to be really honest- for at least five years total.

I was heartbroken.

I have given up so much in the past few years to be home in order to raise my child - all my choice (and my husband's). My goal was that within five years I would replace my income with a home based business.

It started off that way, but as I became pregnant with my second child I began to cut back on clients, and before long I was at a major decision making point in my career- would I continue with website design as always, or would I venture off into the unknown, unchartered territory of finding my way independently as an online web consultant and freelance writer??

well, I had been doing both for over a year...and as you probably know (if you're part of the business group here), I set my goals high.

The problem is, over the course of the year (with homeschooling a toddler and 2nd grader and supporting a military husband who also happens to be in the ministry and travels quite often), I kind of lost track of my business goals.

so i've been teeter tottering for some time now.

Then...(and although i won't go into detail about what EXACTLY happened)...this THING came up and threw me for a loop. It set me back a few hundred dollars (could have been worse), but it was also an opportunity, a door that seemed to unnervingly SLAM shut in my face.
I had to remind myself that God has the RIGHT doors to open up for me, at the right time, and in the right place.

Sometimes I'm in too much of a hurry to get to His promises, and I just forget that I may have to go through some unchartered territory from time to time, get a few doors shut in my face, hear the word "NO" at times, get turned down for job opportunities and job offers, miss out on business opportunities and clients-- all before I actually get to His promises which are, indeed, YES AND AMEN.

That said, it leaves me with confidence that I WILL reach the finish line in victory, and I WILL receive His promises. I just can't give up.

God's 'No' is always a 'Yes' to something better. I look forward to hearing how God opens the door to bigger and better opportunities!

Thank you, Christi and Dana for your kind words.
Things SEEM to be taking a turn for the worse at times (like right now I am facing closing out my mailing list this week due to lack of funds to take care of it)...it's not just about embarrassment, but about disappointment- not knowing what's going to happen -- and sad because of all the hard work you've put into something only to have to come to an end that SEEMS to be the end. but it's not. I am so grateful for NIng (FREE network), and any FREE resources online I can find to keep the ministry and business going until the Lord opens those doors wide open which I know He will. With the exception of my hosting it's going to have to be a call for free resources for a while. The Lord is teaching me frugality and patience in this season of my life...and it comes at a time when many people are struggling financially all across the world...so I can't feel too sorry for myself. This is happening all around us. God is just so good to keep His promises and keep blessing us over and over again. And right when we are about to give up and throw in the towel, He answers us with His promises...
Oh wow! I have so much to share...i'll have to write another blog post.
Thank you both!

Demetria,
Just this site alone, your commitment to it, to the members and of course to our Heavenly Father are all mile markers on your journey to that finish line! You are such an inspiration to me and I enjoy reading your posts and blogs so much! This site and those here also share the daily up and downs, challenges big and small, and trials and errors of building a home based business and it's so nice that we have this format to discuss our tears, fears, failures as well as claim His blessings on a daily basis! Claim this promise today....

"The genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:7

Blessed 24/7, Christi

Right don't give up. You will be fine. Just another door shut....but that is okay...God has you in his hands! I am confident that HE will see through.
