Traps Women Fall Into - Thinking That a Man is a Wealth Plan

Many women have been taught to rely on a man to be their wealth plan. Society has taught women that the man was the bread winner and the woman had the responsibility of staying at home with the kids. Many women were told not to worry about the finances of the household because the man would take care of it. Because of this way of life many women were not encouraged or even at times permitted to involve themselves with finances and investments. As a result, women were trapped and did not develop the skills to competently manage money or understand the role investments played in the world of financial success.
I have heard so many stories of women who never even learned how to write a check until after they were faced with divorce or widowhood. After becoming single again, they were faced with having to learn about money and taking care of their households on their own. Most women didn’t even realize that they did not have knowledge of where and how the money was spent, if their husband’s pensions were enough for survival or even if their husbands had a will. This is a hard lesson to learn at this late stage of the game. Don’t be caught with this problem and have no where to turn. Take the time to learn how to avoid these traps.
Escaping the Trap
There is no guarantee that every woman will be married. And if you have the opportunity to become married will you stay that way? One of the fastest ways to heavy debt is divorce. Women in the 21st century must begin to take on a new mindset of financial empowerment.
Steps to Empowerment
1. It’s time to take a look I the mirror. Realize that your financial status depends on YOU,
2. You need to take a snap shot of your present financial condition. This will help you see how much money you make and where it goes. For a month, start what I call a “Spending Diary” You can download one free from
http://financecoach.webs.com/Spending%20Diary.xls.
3. Next, look at your debts. Write down all your bills and credit card debt. Now make a plan to become debt free. You can go on a Financial Fast and put the money you save toward reducing your debt. You can download a free Monthly Budget Spreadsheet from
http://financecoach.webs.com/Monthly%20Budget.xls.
4. Now take the time to educate yourself about money and wealth accumulation. I know you have heard the saying that “knowledge is power”. My belief is that “Only Applied Knowledge is Power”. In order to build assets and accumulate wealth you have to get off your buns and do something,
5. Take some classes, hire a financial coach, join a membership site that offers financial education and support.
A Clarion Call to Action
My dear sisters, please hear me and hear me good. “A Man is NOT a Wealth Plan.” This is a clarion call for you to develop a solid plan to secure your financial future and not to leave that responsibility to someone else. Whether you’re married, single, or divorced, the responsibility for your financial life rests with YOU. You have to become money-smart as well as heart-smart in the 21st century because if you don’t you will regret it later. Don’t wait for a man to save you. Begin to create your own financial plan today.
“Rise up ye women that are at ease until the spirit be poured upon you...” Isaiah 9, 15
It’s time to rise up and stake your claim. There are a lot of women who don’t think they can become wealthy on their own. They think that having a man is the only way to financial freedom. But they are so wrong. Did you know that there are four (4) men to every woman who earns $100,000 or more? Why is it that so few women plan to be Wealthy?
I know you have been told that this is a man’s world. But remember this:
“It pleases the Lord to make you prosper.” Deut. 28:53.
It does not say just men or just women. It says you. It is your responsibility to reach for the gold. This is pleasing unto the Lord. It makes Him happy to see His people prosper. Please consider this – our lives today are not the fairy tales that are depicted on “Sex and the City” which portrays that catching the man means catching the CASH.
Women must do what men do. LEARN, MAKE AND INVEST MONEY! Your financial success is a choice. You are obligated to yourself, your children and your loved ones — to make YOU your first priority.
So you don’t have to wait for a man to plan your financial future. So ladies, start to become smart about money today and remember that a man is NOT a Wealth Plan!
