Okay, this article is a bit late. Summer has past and autumn is already upon us. But I just wanted to share this with you (it was written this summer for the
CLC Mag). The part about vacationing I think is still applicable no matter the season. God wants us to rest.
Enjoy the article!

Have you been enjoying your summer break? Taken a nice vacation? Maybe sauntered around the beach and squished your toes in the sand?
It’s amazing what a good, cleansing breath of fresh air will do for us. Even more amazing is what a nice break does for the body and the soul.
If you’ve been working hard all year long, you’re probably really enjoying some time off right now, or at least looking forward to planning a few days of vacation to make up for all the hard work you’ve been doing. It may seem an unfair trade at best (a few days of vacation compared to several months of labor), but it’s nonetheless, a break.
I am thinking back in the Old Testament, how that the Lord was concerned with the affairs of Elijah, the prophet. He was weary, ready to give up. Elijah needed to rest. God provided a cave for him to hang out and catch his breath, eat and sleep. Without this much needed rest, Elijah would not have been in the position to hear the Lord’s voice, which later came as a whisper in the midst of plenty of noise.
God has planned our lives in such a way that He gives us times of labor and times of rest. He is a fair God, just, and concerned about our welfare. He wants us to take breaks and to relax. Yes, God enjoys it when you “take a load off”. It’s in those times of rest when we can hear the voice of our Father more clearly and with precision. When you find yourself too busy for a break, ask yourself if it’ worth missing the all-to-important voice of your Heavenly Father.
Then sit down and plan a break. Vacations are a gift from God.
